Results of the surveillance of Blood Stream Infections (BSI) (hospital wide)

Results on national level can be found in following articles:

  • "Surveillance of nosocomial BSI in Belgian hospitals"
    The article describes general and specific trends of the incidence of nosocomial BSI from October 1992 until June 2001.
    Dutch version - French version
  • "Summarizing results of the surveillance of nosocomial BSI hospital wide"
    The article describes 1) the evolution of incidence rates of nosocomial BSI and 2) the evolution of the main pathogen-specific incidence rates of nosocomial BSI. Figures are based on analysis using data of hospitals with regular participation from 1992 to 2002 (n=70). Dutch version

Results on Flemish level can be found in following reports:

  • "Surveillance of nosocomial infections in Flemish hospitals within the frame of the quality decree, year report 2000". Dutch version
  • § "Surveillance of nosocomial infections in Flemish hospitals within the frame of the quality decree, year report 2001" . Dutch version

Both reports give a summary of indicators to be collected for the Flemish quality decree for the year 2000, consequently the year 2001. They provide an overview of the results of the surveillance of nosocomial BSI (hospital wide) and the surveillance of nosocomial infections on intensive care units. For these, data of Flemish hospitals has been used for the year 2000, consequently the year 2001.
