Preliminary survey prior to the start of the surveillance.
In December 2002, the IPH undertook a preliminary survey prior to the start of the "National surveillance of needle sticks and blood and body fluid exposure in Belgian hospitals". The survey included questions about the degree occupational blood exposure is already registered, how large is the interest in participating in a network coordinated at national level, and who is involved in the procedure and surveillance after a blood exposure. Results of 75 hospitals (60% of the Belgian hospitals) are promising.
